Ghana Police supply free water to deprived communities without pipes

Ghana police service has hit the streets to supply free water to deprived communities without pipes to enable them to also enjoy the government’s free water for all.

Director of Transport at Ghana Police Service Supt. Dr. Baba Iddrisu explained that their actions were borne out of President Nana Addo’s order that water should be made free for all.

He further explained that  the IGP, James Oppong Boanuh has tasked his outfit to identify deprived communities and enable help them out with some water.

“The President [Nana Akufo-Addo] announced that due to the lockdown, we need water in some communities without water. He appealed to organizations and individuals to provide free water service. We as the police, we have three water tankers which we feel we can use to help communities. The IGP has asked us to identify areas without water especially those on the outskirts and we are serving them with water,” – he said.

So far, Oyibi, Adamrobe and some communities in the Ga West Municipality have all received water from the Ghana Police.

Supt. Dr. Baba Iddrisu said communities that need money can call the police and request water be provided for them.

“We engage the Assemblymen and women and District Chief Executives to identify specific areas in need of water so we serve them. For those without tap water, we will do our best to serve them,” – he said.
